ASUKA is short for Ajax-based Shell Users Kan Access. The name spells out to a Japanese girl's name meaning "the new fragrance". A new shell for the UNIX and Linux users stuck in an Internet world where Windows and Macintosh dominate.
ASUKA's main objective is to liberate UNIX and Linux users from being forced to accept the limitations imposed by Windows and Macintosh.
ASUKA is built by programmers and computer enthusiasts ("hackers"), for programmers and computer enthusiasts.
